The Beginning

HMD was founded on August 2, 1957, and formally inaugurated on January 4, 1959. The company has the vision of serving the medical profession with world-class and affordable devices. HMD, in collaboration with a Japanese Corporation, added other products including surgical blades and single-use syringes in 1971 and 1986 respectively. Over the years, HMD has come up with various innovative medical products to meet the changing needs of the industry.

What gives HMD an edge is the ability to mass-produce the products while matching ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ICMED 13485 AND MDSAP requirements. The products to be sold to Europeans countries are manufactured at the HMD plant, also bear CE Mark, which showcases the company’s ability to meet the challenging and varied needs of the global market without compromising with the quality.

With impeccable quality and a wide range of products, HMD is definitely raising the bar high for competitors. To ensure the safety of not just the patients but also healthcare workers, HMD offers safety I.V. Cannula and needles. The safety devices prevent reuse, thereby saving patients and healthcare workers from the risk of deadly diseases. In addition, HMD was the first manufacturer of auto-disable syringes in the country. The AD syringes are used for  for giving vaccination against COVID-19 pandemic. HMDs contribution in fighting the pandemic has been tremendous. They reached the tremendous milestone of supplying a whopping 500 million pieces of Kojak AD Syringes to help vaccinate more than 685 million people.

Quality Assurance

HMD strives for continuous improvement in the Quality Management System. All the products go through a comprehensive and exhaustive screening processes, which include chemical, visual, physical and microbiological inspections at different stages in the production cycle. The organisation also practices 6 sigma to achieve consistency and quality in their products.

Infrastructure

HMD has plants spread over four sites in Faridabad, Haryana, India. The plants have a production capacity of more than 4.5 billion units of disposables per annum. With a newly integrated plant in 2019, HMD has geared up the production of blades and scalpels to more than 150 million units. The manufacturer aims to meet 50 percent of the demand for high-quality blades and scalpels globally. HMD has aggressive plans to take over the market, and the company is focusing more on establishing manufacturing units at several locations to increase its production rate.
